Our services
We offer a wide range of services around water quality, in rivers, lakes and coastal areas. We specialize in continuous water quality monitoring using permanently deployed instruments, and in assisting community groups to get small scale monitoring projects up and running.
Telemetered Continuous Monitoring
Setting up and managing continuous monitoring sites can be technically challenging, getting the right help can save you a lot of wasted time and expense. Telemetered sites allow you to react to changing conditions in near real time by the use of threshold alarms.
Non Telemetered Continuous Monitoring
Increasingly stand alone battery powered water quality sensors are the most cost effective answer for continuous monitoring, we have the experience to guide you in the right direction to get the quality data you need, at a reasonable cost.

Community Based Water Quality Projects
We can help your community based group get started monitoring water quality in your local area. Ensuring that the data you collect is high quality and fit for purpose. We can also help with the hard stuff like data analysis and report writing.
Consent Compliance Monitoring
We have extensive experience in consent compliance monitoring and can supply you with the data you need to supply to the council. Leveraging technology can reduced the cost to you, and improve your certainty that you are doing your part in protecting the environment.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Interpreting water quality data can be challenging, our experience can help turn thousands of numbers in a spreadsheet, into real insights and understanding.

Fish Passage Assessment and Mitigation
We can access structures in streams that may be preventing migratory native fish from access upstream habitat, and advise you on potential mitigation techniques.
What can we measure in the field or test for in the lab?
Parameters that are able to be measured continuously in the field are water depth, temperature, conductivity/salinity, dissolved oxygen, pH and ORP, turbidity (as a proxy for suspended solids), chlorophyll-a (as a proxy for planktonic algae), Rhodamin (tracer dye), fDOM (dissolved organic matter), and nitrate. Depending on the duration and water conditions some sort of biofouling management will likely be required for some parameters.
Using our high quality handheld water quality meter we can measure temperature, conductivity and specific conductance, salinity, dissolved oxygen concentration and saturation, and barometric pressure in the field. We can validate the performance of your in situ instruments using this handheld meter.

Continuously in the Field
Discrete in the Field
By Bottle Sample
Some parameters can only be tested for via bottle samples. We use Watercare Laboratory in Auckland for our lab testing needs. They are capable of the full range water quality testing including microbiology, suspended solids, nutrients, metals, organic and inorganic chemicals. see the link below for further information.
